A new mutant enters the scene this week, and his powers could help one side of this mutant conflict win over the other...but whose side will he join?

Our team this issue:
As things calm down at the mansion, the X-Men get to sit down for a relaxed dinner together, where even Cyclops has a jovial attitude. Conversely, The Brotherhood is back to the drawing board, preparing for their next assault. Magneto can't afford to be thwarted again, and the stress is putting him on edge. He is so on edge that when Mastermind accidentally projects an image of Cyclops near Magneto, he fires one of his most powerful beam weapons through the projection and down the hall. Quicksilver, ever present of his sister's whereabouts races the beam down the hall and get's his sister, The Scarlet Witch, out of the way just in time.
Back at the mansion the team is eating dessert, when Xavier opens his paper to read a story about a new possible mutant called the Sub-Mariner. Xavier sees much promise in this man, and deems it his quest to locate the Sub-Mariner before The Brotherhood does. So Professor X retires to his study, and projects his consciousness out of his body and into the sea.
Xavier realizes after searching for a little while, that he is not alone under the waters.
Magneto, after hearing about the Sub-Mariner had the same thought Professor X did, that he needed to recruit the Sub-Mariner before the X-Men could. Much like Xavier, Magneto projects his consciousness to the ocean. Deep underwater is where he finds the Sub-Mariner's kingdom Atlantis.
Inside, the Sub-Mariner is brooding over his most recent encounter with another Marvel team, The Fantastic Four, and his rejection by his land based love, Sue Storm. Magneto sees a way to take advantage of the Sub-Mariner by influencing one of his loyal subjects he finds cowering away from the Sub-Mariner's anger. He tells him to get the Sub-Mariner to Magneto's undocumented island, and he can take over the crown as king of Atlantis.
Professor X and his X-Men recently read some reports where ships down by Bermuda were stating that their compasses were going haywire, throwing them off course. Xavier believes that this is where Magneto's island is, and they set forth on a boat with a course headed toward Bermuda.
The Sub-Mariner, Namor, departs for Magnetos island in his submersible ship, and arrives at Magneto's island a short time later. Namor's arrogance has Magneto scrambling to find a way to get Namor to stay and become a part of their team...that's when he pulls Scarlet Witch into the equation, in hopes that her beauty would sway Namor.
Before this can turn into a mutant love story, Angel swoops in and interrupts the moment. The X-Men have arrived on scene.
Magneto blows up the X-Men's ship with a giant magnet (yup he blew it up with a giant magnet) and the X-Men learn just how powerful Namor is as they face off against him.
Namor breaks away from the fight momentarily as he looks for Magneto and Scarlet Witch. That's when he overhears how cruelly Magneto speaks to women...and he decides he wants no part in this Brotherhood (I mean they had to go this way, it's not like Magneto and Namor's mom's names could both be Martha).
The X-Men find Namor, Magneto and Scarlet Witch and the battle resumes. Again, Magneto escapes the X-Men's wrath, leaving behind Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Namor. Professor X comes into the battle and speaks with Namor, quelling his urge to defeat the X-Men.
Namor departs back to Atlantis shortly after this discussion. Xaiver claims his interaction with Namor is a win for the X-Men, because this powerful mutant didn't join Magneto's Brotherhood. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch find Magneto and fly back off with the Brotherhood in Magneto's rocket.

This issue was meh. I feel like we're only 6 issues in and we've already hit this pattern of training, fighting, Magneto flees, Xavier comes in and saves the day. That's literally every issue. I understand that it is a driving force to help the world grow around them, and make it seem real. Namor however is a bit of a stretch.
Well that character is a bit of a stretch in general, but that is neither here nor there.
Honestly my favorite part of this issue was the last page. It was almost like a "letter to the editor" style page where readers wrote in. Many did feel like plants, but hey, we're six issues in, I'm sure that these were real fans. So rather than have me rant today, I'll just let you read that last page in full.
Let's hope we get a better issue 7...
