X-Men Issue 1

I can't tell you how excited that I am to actually be undertaking this project.  The X-Men have been my favorite Marvel super team for almost thirty years now!  Though I have loved everything I have read from the 90s to current, I never really sat down and dedicated myself to finding these older issues to pour through.

I feel that this is because when I was a kid I had a reprint of X-Men #1, and I remember reading through it feeling that the art was sub par, and the story was weak and flat.  Looking back, I was almost spoiled by the amazing art of Jim Lee from his run with Claremont, and I felt that between those comics and the X-Men cartoon, this was just too "out of date" for me.

Honestly, that's probably how younger kids look at me now when I talk about movies I loved from the 80s.  Or when they stand back and gasp when I show them a black and white movie.

Anyway - on to issue 1!

The Comic Book Project

One personal interest I have is comic books.  It's been a huge passion of mine since the old 90s X-Men cartoon, and I discovered the Chris Claremont/Jim Lee gold team revitalization of the X-Men.  Suffice to say...I love the X-Men.

I love all other comic books too, however I definitely lean way more toward Marvel books.  DC isn't a dirty word in my house (well, not to me, my wife is a different story), I love a lot of the revamps they have done over the past few years (though they are overwhelming).

So my thought was to take an iconic comic series from the very beginning, read all the issues I can find in order, and review them.  I think especially with what Marvel has done with their cinematic universe, it'll be really cool to go all the way back to the start and see how the team has evolved over time.

I'll take one series at a time, and all series suggestions are welcome.  I'll try to do at least one of these a day (that's a hefty claim though).

So - to kick this whole project off - since I'm an die hard X-Men fan at heart, that's where we'll start!

Welcome to Pair Of Dice Lost!

Well, it sure has been a while since I've written one of these.

Gosh almost five years ago now I ran another website/podcast network with some friends, and after a while it all kind of fell apart and I fell out of love with it all.  Recently, I've been thinking of getting back into posting again.

I'm not looking to make money, or to find fame, I more just want to share cool stuff that I play/read/create with strangers on the internet...and of course, find some personal fulfillment as well.

So - on to what the heck this thing is going to be.  The long answer is...I don't know yet.  However, here is my idea.  Initially I am going to post reviews of things that I'm reading and playing, just to get the ball rolling and get me back in the habit of posting again.  Eventually I would love for this to spawn off into a podcast or something, that's always fun to do.

I can't really account for the rigidity of posting right now.  It could happen daily, could happen weekly, or just kind of be all over the place.  Eventually I would like to have daily posts and weekly podcasts though.

So...yeah...go team, post 1.  We'll see where this goes.  If you found this and this vague description of a blog/podcast sounds cool, stick around!  If not, well thanks for stopping by!
